A note on method, up front: this is a research-based analysis, not a hands-on review. We have not installed, purchased, or used LockedIn AI in a real or mock interview, so there are no personal anecdotes here about how its answers felt, how fast they arrived, or how accurate the transcription was. What follows is built from LockedIn AI’s own pricing page (last checked 2026-09-28), its refund policy (checked 2026-07-28), and documented user reports. Prices change, so confirm them on their site before you pay.
The verdict
LockedIn AI is a managed, feature-heavy subscription: live interview help plus a mock-interview simulator, a long language list, and an optional human-helper mode. It is a reasonable choice if you want those extras in one product and are fine with recurring billing and no bring-your-own-key. It is a weaker fit if you want a short commitment, your own API key, or a refund policy that lets you change your mind after you start. One thing to check yourself before a real interview: its screen-share overlay, because user reports and the marketing claim do not fully agree (details below).
Pricing and billing model
LockedIn AI sells two tabs of plans, General and Professional, each billed monthly or every three months. The prices below are what we saw on 2026-09-28 and are promotional; the page also shows higher list prices.
General
| Plan | Price shown | List price | Billed | About per year* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $54.99/mo | $109.98/mo | Monthly | ~$660 |
| 3-month | $39.99/mo | $109.98/mo | Every 3 months (~$120) | ~$480 |
Professional (the tab described around remote human assistance and screen-share privacy features)
| Plan | Price shown | List price | Billed | About per year* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $119.99/mo | $239.98/mo | Monthly | ~$1,440 |
| 3-month | $79.99/mo | $239.98/mo | Every 3 months (~$240) | ~$960 |
*Annual figures are our arithmetic from the displayed monthly rates (price x 12), not annual prices advertised by LockedIn AI. You are not locked into 12 months; the figures show what it costs if you keep subscribing for a year.
Two details worth knowing. First, the promo code LOCKIN50 (“50% off forever, limited time only”) was still running with a countdown timer on 2026-09-28, two months after we first saw it, so the “limited time” framing looks permanent. That is an observation about the page, not a claim about why. Second, we saw no annual plan in the screenshots we reviewed. We did not open the Credits or Lifetime tabs, so we make no statement about other plan types; check their pricing page.
Refund policy
For monthly and quarterly subscriptions, cancelling stops future charges, but the current period is not refunded and no credit is given. For an annual subscription, a partial refund is available only if you cancel within 7 days of purchase. Billing mistakes (a duplicate charge, access you paid for but did not get, a charge after cancellation) go through a separate process and must be reported within 7 days.
The practical effect: on the plans we saw advertised, there is no ordinary post-purchase refund window. If you are unsure the product suits you, that makes even the cheaper General plan a bigger bet than it looks.
Reliability of the screen-share overlay
LockedIn AI markets its overlay as not visible during screen sharing. At the same time, reviews on Trustpilot and Reddit (swept 2026-07-21) repeat a complaint that the overlay window still showed up in the shared screen in practice. This is a pattern across several reviews, not a single anecdote, and we have no percentage or count to give.
We did not test this ourselves, so we are not saying the feature works or that it fails. A marketing claim about screen sharing is not a guarantee for every operating system, meeting app, or capture method. If it matters to you, test your exact setup first, and check whether the interview or proctoring rules allow such tools at all.
For a short standalone summary of these rules, see the LockedIn AI refund policy page.
What LockedIn AI genuinely does well
- A built-in mock-interview simulator. You can practice inside the same product, not only get help in a live call. SyntaxCue has no practice mode.
- Broad language support. The site reports 42 languages, including accent handling. This was not visible on the pricing screenshots, so treat it as site-reported and confirm before paying.
- LockedIn Duo (Remote Assist). You can invite a human helper into a private session, with text and code sharing, screen and audio streaming, and voice coaching. SyntaxCue is AI-only. Like the language list, this is site-reported and was not on the 2026-09-28 pricing screenshots.
- Adjustable overlay transparency. You can change how opaque the hint window is.
- No API key to manage. The AI is bundled into the subscription.
What to weigh before buying
- The recurring cost. About $480-$660 a year on the General plans if you keep subscribing, much more on Professional. A job search that runs for several quarters adds up.
- The refund terms. No refund on monthly or quarterly plans once they start.
- The overlay reports. Verify the behavior on your own setup.
- More product than you may need. Mock interviews, many languages and a human helper are real differentiators, but they matter less if all you need is a focused live-interview assistant.
- No BYOK, no Linux. It runs on macOS and Windows, and you cannot bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic key.
- Things we could not verify. We have not measured its answer speed, answer quality or transcription accuracy, and we make no claim about them.
Who LockedIn AI is for
It makes sense if you want practice, live help and possibly human coaching in one managed product, you need many languages, and you are comfortable with a recurring subscription.
It’s a poor fit if you want a refund window to test the product inside, you want to control your AI spend with your own key, you are on Linux, or you only need help for a few weeks and would rather pay once.
How SyntaxCue compares
SyntaxCue is a narrower tool with a different cost structure. It costs $79 once for a 6-month license (no auto-renewal, so the term is not the same and the numbers are not one-to-one with about $480-$660 a year on LockedIn AI General), it is bring-your-own-key (you pay OpenAI or Anthropic directly and choose the model), it transcribes locally with no vendor backend in the audio path, and its refund is 14 days with no conditions, against no refund on LockedIn AI’s monthly and quarterly plans. Honestly: LockedIn AI has a mock-interview simulator, a 42-language list and a human-helper mode, and SyntaxCue has none of them. SyntaxCue only helps during live interviews. So it comes down to scope versus cost control: a broad managed suite on a subscription, or a focused tool where you control the spend. Is this review based on hands-on testing of LockedIn AI?
No. We have not installed or used LockedIn AI. This analysis is built from its public pricing page (checked 2026-09-28), its refund policy (checked 2026-07-28), and documented user reports, not from personal use.
How much does LockedIn AI cost?
On 2026-09-28 the General tab showed $54.99/mo billed monthly or $39.99/mo billed every 3 months (about $120), roughly $660 or $480 a year if you keep subscribing. The Professional tab showed $119.99/mo or $79.99/mo on the 3-month plan, roughly $1,440 or $960 a year. These are promotional prices; list prices are higher, and the annual figures are our arithmetic, not their advertised price.
Does LockedIn AI have a free trial?
Their refund policy mentions trying the free trial before you buy, but gives no details, and we have not confirmed what it includes. Check their pricing page for the current offer before you pay.
What is LockedIn AI's refund policy?
Monthly and quarterly subscriptions are not refunded once started; cancelling only stops future charges. Annual subscriptions get a partial refund only if cancelled within 7 days of purchase. Billing errors must be reported within 7 days.
Is LockedIn AI worth it?
It can be if you want mock interviews, many languages and optional human help in one managed product, and you are fine with recurring billing. It is harder to justify if you only need a live-interview assistant, want a refund window, or prefer a one-time license.
Can I use my own API key with LockedIn AI?
No. It is a managed product with the AI included in the subscription. SyntaxCue is the bring-your-own-key option: you pay your provider directly and choose the model.
