SyntaxCue is $79, one time. No subscription, no tiers, no recurring charges — you buy it once and use it for every interview after that. The only ongoing cost is your own AI usage, because SyntaxCue uses your own API key and you pay your provider directly (more on that below). Try it free first: download it and use your first hints before you decide.

What it costs

SyntaxCue
Price $79 — one-time purchase
Billing No subscription. Nothing recurring.
After purchase Unlimited use, forever. No packs, no per-interview metering.
AI API usage Not included — bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic key; you pay your provider directly, at cost (usage-based, typically a small fraction of a monthly subscription).
Free before buying Try it free — metered by hints (~10-15), not by a countdown clock.
Devices One purchase activates on up to 3 devices, with self-serve deactivation to free a slot.
Refund 14 days, no hoops — no proof-of-defect requirement.
Platforms macOS and Windows (native desktop apps). No Linux, no mobile app.

To be clear about the total cost: the $79 covers the app. It does not include AI API usage. Because SyntaxCue is bring-your-own-key, your LLM requests are billed to you directly by OpenAI or Anthropic at their rates — usage-based, no markup from us, and typically a small fraction of what a monthly subscription costs. So your real cost is “$79 once, plus your own modest, usage-based API spend” — not $79 as an all-in number, and not a recurring bill to us.

Why buy from us

# Point The verifiable contrast
1 One payment, no subscription $79 once vs. subscription competitors — roughly $19.99-149.99/mo, ~$150/mo, and ~$40-55/mo depending on the product and tier.
2 Nothing to cancel, no recurring charges There’s no subscription to forget about. Competitors have documented complaints on Trustpilot about renewal charges after cancellation.
3 Refunds without hoops 14 days, no conditions. By contrast, one competitor’s refund window is 24 hours and requires video proof of a software defect (per their published policy).
4 Audio never written to disk; your API key stays on your machine Transcription is streaming and local — you can verify in your own network traffic that audio never leaves your device.
5 We never auto-capture your screen Some competitors rely on continuous screen-reading/OCR; SyntaxCue only ingests text or screenshots you explicitly paste or capture yourself.
6 Your private hint window can stay out of your own screen share Optional and off by default. Competitors’ paid screen-privacy overlays have documented cases (reported on Trustpilot/Reddit) of still appearing in screen shares.
7 You control AI cost and provider Bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic key and pay the provider directly, at cost — no markup, and you choose the model.

Rows 3, 4, and 6 reference documented, checkable facts — a competitor’s published refund policy, verifiable network behavior on your own machine, and reported user complaints on Trustpilot/Reddit — rather than bare marketing claims.

What $79 does not include

We’d rather be plain about the limits than have you find them after buying:

What stays on your machine

SyntaxCue has no backend in the audio path. Audio is transcribed locally, on your device — it’s never written to disk and never sent to us. The only thing that leaves your machine is the text of a transcribed question, sent directly to your own LLM provider using your own key. We don’t run a server in the middle, we don’t store your sessions, and we don’t collect your interview content.

Is $79 the total cost?

No — $79 is the one-time price of the app. On top of it, you pay for your own AI usage directly to OpenAI or Anthropic, because SyntaxCue is bring-your-own-key. That usage is usage-based and typically a small fraction of a monthly subscription, but it's a separate, real cost. There is no recurring charge from SyntaxCue itself.

Is it really one-time, or does it renew?

Genuinely one-time. You pay $79 once, and there's nothing to renew and nothing to cancel. After purchase, your usage is unlimited forever — no packs, no per-interview metering.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. Download it and use your free hints (around 10-15) first — the free tier is metered by hint count, not by a calendar countdown, so it doesn't expire on you before you've had a chance to try it in a real session.

What if it doesn't work for me?

You have 14 days to get a full refund, with no hoops — we don't require proof of a defect or video evidence. If it's not for you, email us within 14 days.

How many devices can I use it on?

One purchase activates on up to 3 devices. If you need to move it to a new machine, you can deactivate a device yourself from your account portal to free up a slot.
