Download it free and try it in a real session.

Download SyntaxCue for macOS or Windows below — it’s free to try, no purchase or credit card required. You get around 10-15 free hints to use whenever you want; the free tier is metered by hints, not by a countdown clock, so it won’t expire on you before you’ve had a chance to try it in an actual interview or practice call. When you’re ready, a one-time $79 purchase unlocks unlimited use — and you won’t need to download anything again.

Get the app

SyntaxCue runs on macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows as a native desktop app. There is no Linux version and no mobile app — we’d rather tell you that up front than have you go looking.

macOS (Apple Silicon)

What you’ll see: the macOS build is code-signed and notarized by Apple (Developer ID Application). Download it, move it to your Applications folder, and launch it like any other app. The first time you open it, macOS asks once to confirm — “SyntaxCue.app is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?” — and notes that Apple checked it for malicious software and none was detected. Click Open. That confirmation is standard for any app downloaded outside the App Store, and it’s not the “unidentified developer” warning unsigned apps get; you won’t see it again on later launches.

Windows

What you’ll see: the Windows build isn’t code-signed yet, so on first launch Windows SmartScreen may show an “unrecognized app” notice. This is expected for a small, newly-published developer’s app — it means Windows hasn’t seen enough downloads to recognize it yet, not that anything is wrong with the file. To run it, click “More info” on the SmartScreen dialog, then “Run anyway.” That’s a normal one-time step; you won’t need to repeat it on later launches, and you don’t need to change any antivirus or security settings to do it. Code-signing for Windows is planned, which will remove this notice for everyone.

What stays on your machine

SyntaxCue has no backend in the audio path. Audio is transcribed locally on your device — it’s never written to disk and never sent to us. The only thing that leaves your machine is the text of a transcribed question, sent directly to your own LLM provider (OpenAI or Anthropic) using your own API key. We don’t run a server in the middle, we don’t store your sessions, and we don’t collect your interview content. If you’d like to confirm it, you can watch your own network traffic while the app runs.

Is this free?

Yes — the download is free and there's no purchase required to try it. You get around 10-15 free hints, metered by hint count rather than a calendar trial, so you can download now and try it whenever an interview or practice call comes up. A one-time $79 purchase unlocks unlimited use.

What happens after I buy?

Buying ($79 one-time) gives you a license key. You enter it in the app's own License section, and unlimited use unlocks immediately. There's no subscription and nothing recurring, and AI API usage is billed to you directly by your own provider (bring-your-own-key).

Do I need to re-download anything after purchasing?

No. It's one app, the same build before and after purchase — buying just unlocks it via the license key you enter in the app. Nothing to reinstall, nothing new to download.

Which platforms are supported?

macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows, as native desktop apps. There's no Linux client and no mobile app right now.

Is it safe to run past the Windows SmartScreen notice?

The notice appears because the Windows build isn't code-signed yet, not because the file is unsafe — it's a working, deliberately-unsigned-for-now build, and signing is planned. Click "More info" then "Run anyway" to launch it. You don't need to disable any security software to do this.

Ready when you are

Download it, use your free hints, and see how it fits the way you interview. When you want unlimited use, it’s a one-time $79 — no subscription, 14-day refund, no hoops.

Already downloaded and out of free hints? Buying is all that’s left — you paste the license key into the app’s License section, and nothing needs re-downloading.
