Two real advantages, and they’re not throwaways — for the right person, either could be the deciding factor.

It has a built-in mock-interview practice mode. Final Round AI lets you rehearse interviews inside the product, not just get help during a live one. SyntaxCue has no rehearsal or practice mode at all — it’s scoped to live support only. If a big part of what you want is to practice beforehand in one place, Final Round AI does something SyntaxCue simply doesn’t.

It includes resume-review tooling. Final Round AI bundles resume review as part of the product. That’s entirely outside SyntaxCue’s scope — SyntaxCue helps during interviews and doesn’t touch your resume. Final Round AI’s pricing scales with usage across tiers, and (as the next section explains) the exact higher-tier prices aren’t verifiable from outside the app. A fixed number versus a variable, hard-to-pin-down subscription is a real difference for anyone who wants to know what they’re committing to.

Local processing. SyntaxCue transcribes audio on your own machine and has no backend in the audio path; Final Round AI is a managed/cloud product. If keeping your interview audio off a vendor’s servers matters to you, that’s a structural difference, not a setting.

Here’s the honest state of Final Round AI’s pricing: the only figure we can actually confirm is the $25/mo advertised starting price (billed annually) — annualized, that’s roughly $300/yr at minimum. Final Round AI is a subscription tiered by how many live interview sessions you use and by billing period (monthly/quarterly/annual), on top of a free plan. But the exact prices for the higher tiers are genuinely disputed — different third-party sources report different numbers for the same tier names, and Final Round AI’s own pricing page renders its tier table client-side, so it can’t be independently verified from outside the app. We’re not going to invent or average a number to fill that gap. If you’re evaluating a specific higher tier, check the current price in Final Round AI’s own app/checkout, because we can’t confirm it for you.

SyntaxCue, by contrast, is a single number: $79 once for a 6-month license, no auto-renewal, and while it’s active your only other cost is your own API usage (BYOK), billed directly by your provider at cost. That’s the core pricing contrast — a fixed, known cost with transparent usage-based AI billing you control, versus a tiered subscription whose upper tiers aren’t publicly pin-downable.

Refund terms

Final Round AI offers a 72-hour (3-day) money-back guarantee on initial and renewal charges, applying once per customer — but it’s void if the billing period shows “substantial use,” defined as 2 or more interview sessions each over 30 minutes. After 72 hours, charges are final except for verified technical issues reviewed case-by-case. Approved refunds process in 5–7 business days, and Stripe processing fees are non-refundable. There’s also a documented, recurring billing/cancellation complaint pattern in Final Round AI’s Trustpilot reviews — reports of no visible in-app cancel option, being rebilled after account deletion, and renewal charges with no advance notice. This appears across multiple reviews (corroborated by an independent third-party review analysis), so it’s a pattern rather than a single incident — but we don’t have a precise percentage and won’t invent one. Weigh it as a documented theme, not a statistic.

Screen-share and the real-time overlay

Both tools show a real-time answer to you during an interview. Final Round AI markets a real-time answer overlay; we can’t independently confirm how its screen-capture behavior works in practice, so we won’t claim it behaves one way or the other beyond that.

SyntaxCue includes an optional setting that keeps its hint window out of your own screen-capture stream — so if you share your screen, your private hint window isn’t part of what your machine broadcasts, the same way notifications stay off a shared screen. It’s off by default, and you can turn it off any time. As with any interview tool, note that many interviews and most proctored assessments require you not to use outside assistance — follow the rules of your specific process.
